Our service Feb. 1 focuses on embodying resilience in support of refugees and immigrants. We will learn about Vashon’s efforts to protect and support this population as ICE steps up its activities and violence in our local area and nationally. Our speaker Jenna Riggs chairs Indivisible’s Immigrant/Refugee Rights Group on Vashon. We will hear about many ways we can join with other islanders in supportive immigration work.
Jenna Riggs is a member of the Indivisible Vashon Immigrant/Refugee Rights Group, and has participated in immigrant justice work since 2016. In her professional life, she runs Jenna Riggs Collaborative as a graphic designer and illustrator, with a vast range of clients and project types. She is also on the board of Vashon Partners in Education, and a beekeeper.
After her talk, Jenna sent us these two resources, as a follow up from that discussion.
The first one is just a link to the new “Community Defense” page on the Indivisible Vashon website. It has a lot of resources and links there.
Then, she wanted to call out specifically to parent/kid resources – they are also on the webpage, but here is a link directly to them from a reputable source.
