The Vashon Island Unitarian Universalists together with the Friends of Thunderbird, The Vashon Maury Island Land Trust, Vashon-Maury SURJ and the Vashon Heritage Museum invite you to a special afternoon with Ramona Bennett Bill (Puyallup), longtime tribal leader, activist, and author of Fighting for the Puyallup.  She has spent decades advocating for tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, and Indigenous self-determination. A central figure in the Fishing Rights movement of the 1960s and 70s, her leadership and advocacy helped shape an important era in the fight for tribal rights in the Pacific Northwest.

Ms. Bennett Bill will share stories from her life, discuss the history behind the fight for tribal rights, and read from her book.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Lewis Hall is located behind the Burton Community Church, 23905 Vashon Hwy SW.
