It is traditional in UU congregations around the country to have a water ceremony, or “water communion” on the second Sunday in September as the congregation gathers again after the summer.

This Sunday will mark our return to Lewis Hall on Sunday mornings. The ceremony, which was developed by UU feminists decades ago, celebrates gathering again in community and also the sacredness of water, as we pour our individual waters into a shared bowl. If you can, please bring a small vial or jar of water – from your well, from a river, from the Salish Sea, from your faucet, from a high mountain lake or a little creek.  We will have water for those who forget!
