UUs have long advocated to protect Earth’s ecosystems, struggling with the United States’ culture of independence, individualism, and capitalist freedoms to exploit people and the planet. What if the urgency of the climate crisis, paradoxically, calls for an end to protest and a deepening of acceptance?

As human beings, we live with great dependence and vulnerability. Imagine slowing down and being as accepting of your body’s needs, limitations, and dependence on others as you are of your longing for independence.

Together, let’s seek a third way between independence and dependence in our relations. Today, we’ll explore one of our shared UU values, interdependence.
